Gervase Phinn, the author and educator, was born on 27th December 1946 in Rotherham.
He taught in a number of schools for fourteen years before becoming an education adviser and school inspector. He is currently a freelance lecturer, broadcaster and writer, but also holds the following positions: president of the School Library Association; a consultant for the Open University; fellow and visiting Professor of Education at The University of Teesside. He is married with four grown-up children.
He has published many articles and books and edited a wide range of poetry and short story collections, but is probably best known for his best-selling autobiographical novels:
